Historically interesting and informative- I always thought Shakers were like the Amish but they weren’t and Kevin was a great tour guide. Well worth the $25.00 and the detour off the main highway. Pr…Full review by elizabethtA1095UP

Great History Lesson. Did not realize the innovation that the Shakers had on history. Their lifestyle would be very popular in todays world. Natural holsome living and innovation mixed together.Full review by Margie B

Are you assuming that it is "beautiful in the fall" or just your opinion? IMHO, it was in need of tremendous repair. 3 tours per day is certainly inadequate. I was thoroughly disappointed. Too many exhibits were closed.

I have been in the Fall and the foliage, coupled with pond in the back is gorgeous. Unfortunately maintenance is a challenge for most of the New York/New England Shaker Villages I have visited. Hancock is the best preserved I have seen.

The guided tour is between 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. I highly recommend doing the guided tour first and then going back and doing the houses at your leisure. You will get an enthusiastic overview of the culture. I actually took a 17 year-old grandchild & her boyfriend 1 week and then went back the following week with a 10 year-old grandchild. We did the guided tour on both. Learned so much on both guided tours. Each tour guide has the basic information and then adds. Some of the houses on the guided tour are not open for personal viewing. There are guides in the houses which are open to the public. We were there during the week so there was no horse & buggy. Take your camera & enjoy!
