A Powerball ticket sold in California won $47,925 but just missed the $206 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The ticket matched four winning Powerball numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, Jan. 4, the California Lottery said.

The lottery jackpot was an estimated $220 million with a cash option of $98.4 million for Monday night's drawing, according to the Powerball website. The jackpot was last won on Dec. 7 when a New York lottery player won a $256 million Powerball jackpot.

The Powerball jackpot increased again after it remained unclaimed, but one lucky person won a couple million on Christmas.
