TEMA said people should expect road conditions to remain bad through the rest of the night. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing during the day this weekend, but that will create the risk of snow melt refreezing and turning to ice on the roads, particularly roads with a lot of trees and shade, and rural back roads.

With a winter storm moving across East Tennessee and bringing the threat of multiple inches of snow, difficult driving conditions are expected.

Memphis is expected to receive four to six inches of snow on Friday, and road conditions are expected to worsen as the day goes on. The National Weather Service is urging drivers to stay off roads as much as possible on Friday as more snow falls throughout the day.
