Just weeks after the season ended with a disappointing Las Vegas Bowl loss to USC, Texas A&M Aggies head coach Mike Elko is bringing a familiar face to his staf

Mike Elko and Texas A&M are expected to hire James Madison defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill as a senior assistant coach, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Hemphill rejoins Elko’s staff after previously serving under Elko as Duke‘s safeties and co-defensive coordinator from 2022-23 when Elko was the Blue Devils’ head coach.

Lyle Hemphill is poised to return to work with Mike Elko. Sources tell FootballScoop that Hemphill, who spent the 2024 season as James Madison's defensive coordinator and nickels coach, is the frontrunner to join Mike Elko's staff.
