A priest from Detroit faces a misdemeanor charge regarding alleged behavior last fall toward a 13-year-old girl.

Father Carlos Martins is from Detroit and is the star of a popular podcast named "The Exorcist Files," comparing his life to the movie "The Exorcist." He’s a member of the Catholic Church and works and lives on Detroit’s west side at the Companions of Cross Church.

A traveling priest has been charged two months after accusations he grabbed a girl’s hair and pretended to floss with it, according to Illinois authorities. Father Carlos Martins, a member of the religious order Companions of the Cross, faces a misdemeanor charge of battery following the November incident in Will County, court records show.

A watchdog group, Bishop Accountability, said it had found scores of clerics with ties to the country who have been publicly accused of sexual abuse. But very few have been disciplined.
