Cincinnati philanthropist and radar detector pioneer Michael Valentine died unexpectedly Monday at his home, according to his obituary. He was 74.

One of the pioneers of the radar detectors we all know and love has died, and the auto industry is mourning the loss of a legendary inventor.

Outside of their company, Michael and Peg Valentine have given millions in philanthropic dollars to Cincinnati organizations.

An obituary for Mike (Michael) D. Valentine posted to Cincinnati.com confirmed the radar detector legend died at the age of 74 on September, 16, 2024. Valentine died at home unexpectedly, according to the obituary.

Mike Valentine, who was our kind of guy in that he loved cars and loved driving fast, died suddenly this week.
