The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the establishment of a stunt design Oscar, which will first be presented at the 100th Academy Awards. The Oscar will honor films released in 2027 at the 2028 ceremony.

The Oscars are introducing a new award: achievement in stunt design. The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Thursday it would add the best stunt design award beginning in 2027 at the 100th annual Academy Awards.

Oscars will be historic, as the Academy is at long last adding a Best Stunt Award category after decades of requests.
