Students can apply to the college after being accepted through the general application process. Those in the college must minor in Native American Studies with an emphasis on Native American leadership. They can pursue any major that Sacramento State offers and into which they are accepted.

Students in the inaugural cohort of the Sacramento State Native American College can major in any field but must minor in Native American studies.
