Juneau still under avalanche threat as city removes massive amount of snow during weekend evacuations
Juneau is digging out after days of heavy rain from an atmospheric river that partially melted more than 7 feet of snow that fell across the Alaska panhandle.
Some residents have chosen to evacuate and others remain at home after city issues avalanche evacuation advisory. Several small avalanches have released in the usual paths across downtown and Thane.
The state plans to help clear public infrastructure like school roofs, storm drains and fire hydrants. A flood watch goes into effect Friday.
