At least 540 people have been killed and more than 1,500 are reported missing in the Himalayan region as authorities race to find survivors after devastating flash floods.

A fresh and potentially five-times more severe flood threat has emerged in Nepal's Nuwakot, with police asking residents near the riverbank to evacuate.
