According to multiple reports, the Red Sox are nearing deals with their four unsigned arbitration-eligible players ahead of Thursday’s deadline to exchange salary figures. All settlements are expected to be finalized by day’s end, allowing the two sides to avoid potentially acrimonious arbitration hearings next month.
The Philadelphia Phillies will meet with the free agent infielder “in the coming days,” The Athletic reported on Thursday. The Phillies have “legitimate” interest in Bichette, but the Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs have also been linked to the 27-year-old. The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers could also be suitors for Bichette.
Alex Bregman could end up signing far away from the Boston Red Sox and may not land with the Toronto Blue Jays either, as a new report links him to an NL West team and suggests it is only a matter of time before his arrival is announced.
