Making her first appearance as Saturday Night Live ’s musical guest since 2011, Cher performed two songs from her 2023 Christmas album titled, simply, Christmas. She was flanked by backup dancers for “DJ Play a Christmas Song” and covered Chuck Berry’s “Run Rudolph Run.”

Last month, the actor skirted around a question regarding his relationship with his "Wicked: For Good" co-star during a "Today" show interview.

Ariana Grande made her third appearance as a host for Saturday Night Live on December 20, an episode that also bid farewell to cast member Bowen Yang. Yang and Grande are good friends who have also worked together on the set of Wicked, so the evening provided plenty of laughs as well as poignant moments.

Yang, who has been involved with the sketch comedy series since 2018, will conclude his run Saturday night, with his 'Wicked' co-star serving as host and Cher as the musical guest.
