The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments Tuesday about the constitutionality of Texas and Louisiana's Ten Commandments display laws.
Attorney General Liz Murrill, who will be defending the Ten Commandments law, has stated that she believes it's constitutional and looks forward to making that case before the Fifth Circuit.
In 2022, the Supreme Court largely abandoned the three-part Lemon Test, used to determine whether a law or governmental action violated the separation of church and state clause in the Constitution. It was set in place by the 1971 Supreme Court case Lemon v. Kurtzman.
