The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may delay the announcement of the one-day international squad for the three-match series against England as well as the provisional squad for the Champions Trophy. ( More Cricket News)

The Champions Trophy will be hosted in a hybrid format with Pakistan as official hosts. The tournament will be played a three venues in Pakistan -- Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi- and in Dubai, where India will play all their matches, including the semifinal and final if they qualify, as an agreement between the ICC, PCB and the BCCI.

The BCCI may delay announcing India's provisional Champions Trophy squad, initially expected by January 12, citing commitments in Australia. The ICC had requested squads five weeks before the tournament but India seeks an extension.

The ICC had set Sunday, 12 January as the deadline for teams to announce their provisional squads for next month’s Champions Trophy. The BCCI, however, is likely to seek an extension and make an announcement on the 18th or the 19th of this month.

The BCCI has delayed announcing India’s squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, which was originally expected this weekend. The new date for the squad reveal is January 19, giving the board more time to finalize the provisional list and align it with ICC guidelines.

ICC had set a five-week deadline for the provisional squad announcement for the Champions Trophy, however, it seems India are set to ask for an extension in the aftermath of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Despite poor run with bat Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be forming the core of Indian batting. There is also concerns over the availability of pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.
