The Dallas Cowboys are expected to hire former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus as their new defensive coordinator.
Matt Eberflus has a new job. The Cowboys hired the ex-Bears head coach to be their defensive coordinator on Tuesday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero . Eberflus spent parts of three seasons in Chicago, going 14-32, before being fired in late November after a 4-8 start to the 2024 campaign.
After hiring Brian Schottenheimer, the Cowboys are bringing in Matt Eberflus to be their new defensive coordinator.
The news comes after the Cowboys promoted Brian Schottenheimer, after two seasons as the team’s offensive coordinator, to replace Mike McCarthy as the team’s next head coach. Eberflus, the Bears head coach from 2022 until his firing late in 2024, was a linebackers coach for the Cowboys from 2011-17.
