Phoenix leaders will meet behind closed doors Tuesday to get legal advice about Trump administration policies regarding immigration.

Border czar Tom Homan told NBC News that several people with criminal convictions were apprehended in Chicago.

A big immigration rally took over a Phoenix intersection on Sunday night in response to illegal immigration deportations happening around the country. There have not been any confirmed mass deportation efforts in Phoenix.

The district is planning "Know Your Rights" seminars and made plans for responding to requests from ICE officials.

Phoenix police say a large group of people gathered near 75th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard from 5 p.m. on for several hours.

The group says the hotline is not intended to protect criminals but to make sure immigrant families in Arizona aren't torn apart.

ICE raids have already been reported in Phoenix. Several organizations have put out guides on how to prepare yourself.

At least 15 Indigenous people in Arizona and New Mexico have reported being stopped at their homes and workplaces, questioned or detained by federal law enforcement and asked to produce proof of citizenship during immigration raids since Wednesday,

The Phoenix Union High School District governing board unanimously adopted a resolution declaring its schools as safe zones from immigration enforcement. The action came as many families say they’re feeling fearful.

As U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement intensifies its efforts to apprehend and deport undocumented immigrants throughout the country, concern is rising among Indigenous communities residing in urban areas about reports of Indigenous people being detained in the Phoenix metro area.
