Two Wichita groups have organized three events to commemorate the life and ideals of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on the federal holiday — Monday, Jan. 20 — that recognizes the civil rights leader’s birthday.

Topeka leaders honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Capitol on Jan. 16. Lawmakers and members of the African American Affairs Commission led an annual MLK march around the Statehouse. The march was the first step in Thursday’s time to honor Dr.

St. Cloud State University and the City of St. Cloud are jointly hosting the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration. The event kicks off Saturday at the university's Atwood Memorial Center.
