The path to $1 trillion is actually remarkably simple: Buy as much Bitcoin as possible, and wait for it to appreciate in price. Given that Michael Saylor, founder and executive chairman of MicroStrategy, now thinks that Bitcoin can hit $13 million by the year 2045, a trillion-dollar valuation is certainly within the realm of possibility.

Shares of business analytics software company MicroStrategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) jumped 22% in the afternoon session after the company added to its Bitcoin position, increasing its overall exposure to the cryptocurrency market amid improving market sentiment fueled by hopes of favorable regulations and policies supporting the crypto industry.

While the increase in Bitcoin's value is often seen as a positive for Coinbase, the real driver of the business is trading volume -- and that's gone through the roof. After hovering between $1 billion and $2 billion per day earlier this year, volume is now $7.8 billion in the last 24 hours, as of this writing.
