Trade war turmoil is weighing heavily on financial markets in Canada. Canada’s main stock index has been tumbling along with U.S. indexes since President Donald Trump initiated a trade war with his North American neighbors.

But when markets closed, the color on the board was still red as investors continued to flee equities amid growing uncertainty over the US president’s economic broadsides. Trump sent out an all caps post on social media threatening Canada with even bigger steel tariffs than the ones he threatened last week,

The new tariffs President Trump imposed on America’s three biggest trading partners today were met with swift backlash both foreign and domestic. The DOW fell more than 1,300 points in two days in reaction and business leaders are warning of higher prices to come.
