Measles was declared eliminated from the United States in 2000 due to high rates of immunization with the MMR vaccine, however in the last five years, the disease has made a comeback.

Health officials with the Kentucky Department for Public Health and the Franklin County Health Department announced on Wednesday a confirmed case of measles had been identified in an adult Kentucky resident.
