Switch 2's Magnetic Joy-Con Connection Was Originally An Idea For Switch
Former Nintendo Minute hosts Kit and Krysta have highlighted an interview they did with Nintendo's Yoshiaki Koizumi back in 2017, who revealed then and there, Nintendo was already considering magnets to connect the Joy-Con on the original Switch hardware.
Nintendo video reveals how Switch 2 Joy-Cons are removed
The animation confirms that in order to unlock the Joy-Cons and remove them from the system, players will have to press a button that is tucked under the trigger. This button appears to disable the magnetic charge that reportedly attaches the controller to the system, allowing it to be removed.
Here’s how you remove the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons
It turns out that chunky button on the back of the Joy-Cons, positioned just beneath the ZR/ZL triggers, is what you’ll push to detach the controllers. While we obviously haven’t gotten our hands on the console yet, this seems much more ergonomic than the tiny buttons that perform the same function on the original Switch.
