Gov. Phil Murphy (D) said his state will begin stockpiling mifepristone “in light of the anti-choice policies supported by” Republican majorities in Congress.

Gov. Phil Murphy is expected to make the announcement Tuesday, joining a number of other states in trying to safeguard access to mifepristone.

Washington State’s program is the first, but other states are expected to try allowing pharmacists to prescribe the pills to counter growing efforts to curtail abortion access.
