Authorities in Nepal are increasing the cost of admission to Mount Everest. Permit fees are set to rise by 36 per cent, up to almost $30,000 during peak times. Nepal's government has faced criticism in the past for allowing too many climbers onto the mountain and it is unclear how the changes will affect demand to scale the world's tallest peak.

For those who want to climb Mount Everest the fee will be $15,000 during the peak season, up 36% from its $11,000 fee, the BBC reported. If you climb outside of the peak season, it will still be a 36% increase. From September until November, it will cost $7,500 while the December to February period will be $3,750.
