CM Yogi Adityanath urges pilgrims to follow instructions and avoid going to Sangam Nose after a stampede broke at Maha Kumbh Mela.

More than seven people were killed in a stampede at the Maha Kumbh Mela in the northern Indian holy city of Prayagraj on Wednesday. PM Modi reviewed the situation in a call with UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

Wednesday marked a particularly significant bathing day, with officials anticipating a record turnout of 100 million devotees at the pilgrimage site. The Maha Kumbh Mela, which takes place every 12 years, began on 13 January, with over 400 million people expected to visit before the festival concludes.

Several people are feared dead after a stampede at the Maha Kumbh Mela Uttar Pradesh Prayagraj on Wednesday as scores of people turned up for a holy dip in the Ganga on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya.

Following the stampede, the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad said that the seers have called off their Mauni Amavasya's Amrit Snan. Jagatguru Rambhadracharya also appealed to devotees to take the holy dip at the nearest ghat on the Ganga and not come to the Sangam Nose.
