The Atlanta Falcons are entering their fifth draft under general manager Terry Fontenot, but for the first time in five years, they don't have a top-10 pick. The team has mostly hit on its first-round picks since Fontenot took over in 2021. Even former No. 4 pick Kyle Pitts had the best rookie season by a tight end in 60 years.
Cousins wants to start and may be waiting for a path to open up after the NFL Draft, and evaluating which teams will draft a quarterback and what trades may occur within the draft timeframe.
On offense, Atlanta will be returning 10 out of 11 starters, all the while the defense remains questionable. Look for Atlanta to focus heavily on defense, especially within the first three rounds of the draft, and possibly draft two Georgia Bulldogs within those rounds.
Kirk Cousins has told the Atlanta Falcons he wants to be a starter and coach Raheem Morris didn’t rule out a trade while reiterating the team intends to keep him as the backup to Michael Penix Jr.
