The Washington Commanders clinched a playoff spot by beating the Atlanta Falcons 30-24 in overtime. Jayden Daniels ran for a season-high 127 yards and threw for 227 and three touchdowns to make the postseason in his rookie year in the NFL.

Jayden Daniels won on Sunday night, sending the Washington Commanders to the playoffs. And that usually would be enough that he wouldn’t have to share the spotlight. But the other rookie quarterback in the game, Michael Penix Jr. of the Atlanta Falcons, was also fantastic in rallying his team to overtime with a great game-tying drive in regulation.

Washington’s thrilling overtime win over Atlanta locked up a playoff spot for the Commanders. Despite the loss, the Falcons are still alive in the NFC South title race. However, they no longer control their own destiny.
