Nvidia’s big RTX 5070 claim is all based on its latest generation of DLSS. “Impossible without artificial intelligence,” admits Huang after promising that the RTX 5070 can deliver RTX 4090 levels of performance. DLSS 4 has a new Multi Frame Generation technique that can generate up to three additional frames per every traditionally rendered frame.

The lowest spec new RTX Blackwell GPU is capable of frame rates akin to the $1,599 RTX 4090 of the previous generation, though likely only through new DLSS 4 AI smarts.

The model practically showed up later as the RTX 4070 Ti, which helped somewhat differentiate its specs to the 16GB 80-series release. Still, the RTX 4080 was anything but a popular card, as its original $1,199 price tag left players craving the cancelled 12GB SKU's $899 MSRP.
