Joseph Stroud (born 1943, Glendale, California) is an American poet. [1] He was educated at the University of San Francisco, California State University at Los Angeles, and San Francisco State University. He is currently retired from teaching at Cabrillo College. [2]

Joe Hinton Stroud (18 June 1936 – 9 May 2002) was editor and senior vice president of the Detroit Free Press from 1973 to 1998. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, and a master's degree in history from Tulane University (1959) in New Orleans. [1]

Born in Glendale, California, poet and translator Joseph Stroud was educated at the University of San Francisco; California State University, Los Angeles; and San Francisco State University. Using a variety of formal approaches, Stroud’s poems address a wide range of historical and international settings.

Joseph Stroud is the author of five books of poetry, including Of This World: New and Selected Poems (Copper Canyon Press, 2008), recipient of the Poetry Center Book Award; Country of Light (Copper Canyon Press, 2004); and Below Cold Mountain (Copper Canyon Press, 1998).

Joseph Stroud is the author of six books of poetry, among them Of This World: New and Selected Poems, which was named by SFSU’s Poetry Center as the outstanding book by an American poet in 2010. It was also a finalist for the PEN America Literary Award, the Commonwealth California Book of the Year, and the Northern California Book Award.
