Oct 4, 2011 · No Cathy Lewis bit the dust too. Died in 1968, as I remember it, of cancer. Same with Mr. Griffin he also died in 1968. The whole cast seemed to die quickly after the show ended. But Shirley Booth, Don DeFore, & Whitney did live a long time afterward. Ray Fulmer and Lynn Borden are still kicking. _____

Apr 13, 2012 · Don DeFore, in the episode "The Natural Athlete" seems to do this most of the time in his shots, indicating that perhaps he was a pretty good bowler. They may have shot Shirley Booth's sequences in several takes until she actually got a strike. (After all, the lady was about 64 when they were filming this.)

I love Shirley Booth, and thought she had to be quite nice -- like Hazel -- in real life. I'm afraid that's not so. A man trying to write a biography on her years ago, contacted her sister who told him she didn't have a thing to say, that she hadn't spoken to her sister in years.

Mar 8, 2011 · Shirley Booth was a comic genius. I agree that her chemistry with Don Defore and Whitney Blake was better than with Ray Fulmer and Lynn Borden, but she still stole the show. She didn't steal the show, it was her show to begin with, the show's name is Hazel, and the show revolved around that character. "Shirley Booth was a comic genius".
