Mar 16, 2024 · There’s a few performances in the Red era where she plays a Gibson Les Paul, and at least one (of the top of my head) during 1989 that is a Fender electric. During the Rep stadium tour she was playing a variety of custom Gibson J-180’s for the acoustic songs, and as far as I can tell, that’s still true for the Eras tour.

To put it simply, the guitar is likely connected wirelessly to an amp which is then played over the speakers. The “hole” you’re referring to is called a soundhole and it is often covered to avoid feedback from the guitar when you need to play very loudly.
