May 15, 2021 · On paper the vive pro 2 is the better headset. It has a much higher resolution, potentially a (slightly) higher fov (if 120 horizontal turns out to be true) and therefore a much clearer image. Audio and microphone is still better on the index though, but If you care about the best visual fidelity then the vive pro 2 is objectively better.

Sep 11, 2022 · My vive pro 2 just arrived today, and for me the comfort is infinitely better than the Index. The index face gasket is just the wrong shape for my face, and the wider gasket I tried made my face not hurt as much, but made it intolerable on the rest of my head. The vive pro 2 feels so much better. However, the headphones are awful.

Feb 11, 2023 · As someone who upgraded from an Index to a Vive Pro 2, make sure you have the horsepower to run it. It makes my 3090ti struggle on full resolution at 120hz. That being said, the resolution jump is huge, the FOV jump from a lesser headset is very welcomed, and tracking with lighthouses is far superior to any inside out solution.

Jan 24, 2023 · You just can't beat the image quality of the Vive Pro 2. It's a huge difference in games with high quality assets. Caveat that you should at least be rocking a 3080 in order to run Vive Pro 2 at it's native resolution (+ barrel distortion compensation so about 3100x3100). The Index is still a fine headset though and you would not regret it.

As in more than just tone and you dont have to deal with the on ear headphones which make putting the HMD back on annoying.. Also Vive Pro 2 has tracking issues compared to the Index. Yes the company that makes the tracking made an HMD that doesnt always track well or nearly as good as the Index. Also the Vive Pro 2 is eye strain central.

Nov 19, 2021 · The Vive Pro 2 wins on resolution (2448x2448@120 Hz vs the Index's 1440x1600@144 Hz) and wireless capability (Vive Wireless costs extra, Pro 2 is limited to 90Hz when wireless). The Index headset alone is cheaper at $499, while Pro 2 costs $799.

Jan 5, 2023 · Also using same SteamVR res, Index is running native Steam drivers and has much better performance, I've seen results indicating up to 40% better performance in the OpenVR Benchmark. Vive and Vive Pro also use native Steam drivers, but that changed with the Vive Pro 2 now having to use 2 layers of drivers. So there's the perfornance too.

Mar 27, 2024 · I have an Index. Bought a Vive Pro 2 because I wanted a better resolution. Returned it immediately. I have had the Index, PSVR, PSVR 2, and Reverb G2 V2. The Vive Pro 2 is BY FAR the worst one I have ever put on my face. The lenses are basically unusable. The vertical FOV was clearly designed for monitor use, not gaming.
