Feb 16, 2023 · Since my setup automatically connects Carplay when the vehicle is started, I have to disconnect my phone, activate the Wi-Fi hotspot, connect any devices I want to use to Wi-Fi, then go reconnect my phone to the vehicle and Carplay then becomes usable while devices (including the phone with Carplay) remain connected to Wi-Fi.

Oct 16, 2023 · Apple CarPlay works great as you would expect… both wired and wireless. There is zero latency and it works as good or better than I've seen in OEM CarPlay examples from Volkswagen, Mazda, etc. I’ve always preferred wired though and I’ll keep trying both to find the best option for me. I like wired as it charges my phone and is 100% reliable.

Feb 5, 2020 · I have a wireless CarPlay unit and wireless CarPlay uses WiFi for the data/screen connectivity to the CarPlay unit from the phone. It’s a point to point connection. So with wireless CarPlay you need to have the WiFi on. Of course if you are using a wired CarPlay connection you don’t need the WiFi.

Oct 4, 2019 · After that, I activated CarPlay again and the sound was AMAZING. Full of bass, volume was louder and overall soundstage was clearer and move “colourful”. Hopefully this helps others out who are having the same audio quality problem with CarPlay connected via USB.
