The twist is a super fun dance that really took off in the early 1960s. It became a massive dance craze, especially thanks to Chubby Checker’s hit song “The Twist.” Essentially, the dance is all about swiveling your hips and twisting your body, kind of like you’re putting out a cigarette with your foot while drying your back with a towel—if you can imagine that!
