What is the history of the Legion of Honor’s dramatic setting? Located in the northwestern corner of San Francisco, Lands End’s windy, rocky coastline provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Golden Gate Bridge. In 1915, the city officially dedicated Lincoln Park, the golf course and open area that surrounds the museum. That same year, the French government granted our founder Alma Spreckels permission to construct a permanent replica of the Palais de la Légion d’Honneur on Lands End. |
