2017 American Humane Hero Military Dog K-9 Adak, presented by K-9 Courage from Zoetis Petcare, had a lengthy career as an explosives detection dog, serving in three countries and ten states before retiring at age thirteen. Dan Hughes and his family adopted Adak upon retirement, and he enjoyed several wonderful years with Dan's family before crossing the rainbow bridge in 2017.
